Robin Hoods Bay Cottages
Our Robin Hoods Bay cottages are part of the parish of Fylingdales, derived from the word Fygela which means marshy ground in Old English. This fantastic area for a self-catering holiday has a very rich history dating back millions of years due to the abundance of fossilised sea life. There are also Bronze Age burial grounds nearby where evidence of man dates back three thousand years. The settlement grew larger around the sixteenth century when it was referenced by King Henry VIII's topographer. Residents began moving to the cliff-side due to its protection from piracy and ease of access to their boats. By the eighteenth century it had become the busiest smuggling spot on the Yorkshire coast. Enjoy a holiday home and see for yourself the enchanting history of this interesting location.
